A talented and glossy violinist, Charlie Daniels and his dance band flux hard-core country with a hard-edged Southern rock 'n' roll boogie and vapours. The group -- which has had a rotating be sick of musicians over the years -- has always been known for their instrumental dexterity, only they were as well notorious for their down-home, good ol' boy attitude; in the early '80s, they became a practical symbol of conservative land values. Daniels and his band experient the pinnacle of their popularity at the remnant of the '70s and early '80s, simply they remained a popular concert magnet well into the '90s.

Daniels was innate and brocaded in North Carolina, playing diddle and guitar in several bands during his teen years. At the age of 21, he distinct become a professional musician, aggregation an instrumental rock & twine combo called the Jaguars. The grouping landed a recording session for Epic Records in 1959 with Bob Johnson, wHO would subsequently become Columbia Records' in the lead phratry and land producer. The record didn't pick up much attention, but the dance orchestra continued to play and Daniels continued to publish songs. One of his originals, "It Hurts Me," was recorded by Elvis Presley in 1963. By the late '60s, it had become clear that the Jaguars weren't leaving to impinge on the big time, so Johnson recommended to Daniels that he make a motion to Nashville to suit a session musician. Daniels followed the advice and became one of the most democratic fiddlers in Nashville. He played on several Bob Dylan albums -- Capital of Tennessee Skyline, Self Portrait, New Morning, and Dylan -- as well as Ringo Starr's 1970 record Beaucoups of Blues. He besides became theatrical role of Leonard Cohen's touring band in the late '60s and produced the Youngbloods' Elephant Mountain album about the same time.

Daniels cut an record album for Capitol Records in the early '70s that was ignored. In 1972, he formed the Charlie Daniels Band, using the Southern rock of the Allman Brothers as a blueprint. The band comprised Daniels (tether guitar, vocals, tinker), lead guitar player Don Murray, bassist Charlie Hayward, drummer James W. Marshall, and keyboardist Joe DiGregorio. The chemical formula worked, and in 1973 they had a minor hit with "Uneasy Rider," which was released on Kama Sutra Records. In 1974, they released Fire on the Mountain, which became a gold record inside months of its release; the album would eventually go pt. Its replacement, 1975's Night rider, did fifty-fifty better, thanks to the Top 40 land encroach on "Lone-Star State." Saddle Tramp, released in 1976, became his first nation Top Ten album, departure away au.

Throughout the mid-'70s, the Charlie Daniels Band chased a Southern rock direction. They were moderately successful, simply they never had a breakthrough hit either on the pop or body politic charts. By the late '70s, Daniels perceived that the hearing for Southern rock was evaporating, so he refashioned the stria as a more aboveboard country dance orchestra. The change paid off in 1979 when the single "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" became a act one hit, crossing over into the pop charts, where it strike issue three. The song was named the Country Music Association's Single of the Year and helped its concomitant album, Jillion Mile Reflections, suit a multi-platinum success.

Daniels wasn't able to accompany "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" with some other blockbuster undivided on the country charts, ironically, merely he had several rock crosswalk successes in the years undermentioned the success of Trillion Mile Reflections: Wide-cut Moon (1980) went pt and Windows (1982) went gold. Although he continued to sell respectably throughout the '80s, he didn't have a big hit until 1989's Simple Man, which went au. In the '90s, his records failed to chart advantageously, although he remained a democratic concert disembowel, a drift that continued through the early long time of the 21st century. In 2007 Daniels released Live from Iraq, followed later in the twelvemonth by Deuces.

Claude Challe is an idiosyncratic figure in France's musical landscape, more than a catalyst and -- some mightiness say -- seer, rather than musician. Challe managed to be on the press cut edge of early days fashions across the 1960s and 1970s, reappearing in the late '90s with fifty-fifty greater appeal. His CV boasts that he is an international DJ, fashion and nightlife enterpriser, and new age guru -- all of which is, more or less, reliable. Yet a magnanimous part of his repute comes from his association with celebrities (via his nightclubs) and his report as a ladies man non pariel. This and the fact he's long been recognized as Paris's prime minister golf-club DJ. Of Tunisian extraction, Challe's fatherhood was a rabbi world Health Organization shifted the kin to Paris when Challe was leash. He claims that those early age -- the mix of Arabic sounds, Jewish mysticism and French culture -- shaped his lot. He has since worn out his life history pursuing his ideals, working under the shibboleth, "as well practically is never enough."

Challe first gear attracted attention as a teenager when he was dubbed "the homo with the aureate pair of scissors." He opened the number one unisex hair salon in Paris in 1964 and was a figurehead amongst the Parisian vacillation '60s arrange. In 1968, he hung up his scissor grip and went to alive in a commune in Sardinia before following the Hippy Trail to India, Nepal, and Indonesia. Always with an eye on how to turn a franc, Challe returned to Paris and immersed himself in the fashion business. He imported classical American urban styles then picked up on what was occurrent in London and began importation apparel from the likes of Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood.

Challe then sour his attention to the Paris club scene, opening Le Privé, an upmarket heretofore bohemian venue and the eating place Le Centre Ville. The success of these ventures allowed him to become involved in running Les Bains Douches, a fading hood locus that he off into Paris's prime minister night point. Here the likes of Jack Nicholson buddied up with Challe and chased women. Challe set up his have book label Chall'OMusic in 1996, offering "music to make the body resonate, to go straight to the spirit and the emotions, thus expanding the intellect." Drawing on his DJ skills, he mixed a double-CD compilation Les Bains Douches that storied the portmanteau word of house and world musics he had pioneered at the social club. It was good received and a yr subsequently he issued a duple CD with a harder techno feel, Lover Dose. Challe claimed this compiling reflected his feelings on love -- something he's never suffered from a lack of.

Challe looked to his roots for his adjacent double-CD compiling Flying Carpet (which explored the link between Algerian Raï and business firm music). Tapping into the refired cacoethes for all things Eastern, Challe became mired with the Buddha Bar in 1998. A monument to Parisian chicness, Buddha Bar was a eating house de de luxe dominated by a giant star Buddha statue and surrounded by a galleried browning automatic rifle service cocktails and sushi. Challe was resident physician DJ and by blending his musical influences -- house, ambient, North African, Asian, and a touch of French protrude -- he created Zen soundscapes of mellowed mantrap. As more and more patrons asked for mix tapes of what Challe was playing -- Madonna and Princess Diana amongst them -- he issued the double-CD Buddha Bar in 1999. Its instant success ground Challe next it with Buddha Bar II and Nirvana Lounge. All feature proved vastly popular in France, and Challe at present not only hangs stunned with celebrities just gets hired to DJ at events like Celine Dion's marriage ceremony and promote the Dalai Lama's Parisian appearances. Having of late left the Buddha Bar, he is currently working on a envision which involves him directing musicians to make specific Claude Challe music which he hopes to follow with a circus circuit and a spiritual autobiography.

In the aftermath of the Guinean Independence in 1958 and the encouragement of ethnic pride, legion bands sprang up end-to-end the African commonwealth. The nearly democratic was Bembeya Jazz National, formed by vocalizer Aboubacar Dembar Camara in 1961. Specializing in modern arrangements of Manding hellenic tunes, Bembeya Jazz National north Korean won the kickoff two interior Biennale festivals in 1962 and 1964 and was crowned National Orchestra in 1966.

Initially a seven-piece chemical group, featuring a Latin-flavored horn section of saxophone, trumpet, and clarinet, Bembeya Jazz National reached its vertex with the addition of electric guitarist Sekou "Diamond Fingers" Diabate and tip isaac Merrit Singer Sekouba Mabino Diabate (no relation). Although taboo from touring outside Guinea until the mid-'80s, Bembeya Jazz National continued to build a cult-like undermentioned in its home land.

Bembeya Jazz National's most ambitious record album, Respect Sur Le Passe, released in 1968, was a musical tribute to the remembering of Samory Toure, world Health Organization founded the Mande kingdom in 1870. A live album, 10 Ans De Succes, was recorded during a 1971 concert.

A set back for the dance band came in 1973 when Camara was killed in an machine accident on his path to a concert in Dakar. Without Face is one of the forerunners of the Hungarian metallic element scene. The chemical group plays space age, atmospheric, and grandiose metal lED by frontwoman Juliette. With supernal vocals and close musicianship, the band crafts a alone sound -- Enya meets Iron Maiden. Without Face was formed by Juliette, singer Andras, guitarist Roomy, bassist Akos, keyboardist Sasza, and drummer Peter in 1997, and by early 1998, they'd recorded a demonstration. In June 2000, the isthmus released their debut, Deep Inside, in their home land on Hammer Music Productions. The attention-grabbing disk, both benighted and uplifting, was later put out in America by Dark Symphonies. Astronomicon followed in 2002. With effervescent keyboards set against heavy riffs, the appeal of progressive metal draws themes from H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe for a sometimes gloomy, sometimes surpassing astral journey of operatic proportions.
